Complex Economic Systems

This project consists of a holistic approach to project planning and project management based on state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms, cutting edge construction management practices, and proven flexibility techniques. To achieve such an ambitious approach, MCTech created a joint venture with the RAAMAC Lab from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This liaison will help MCTech to clearly analyze capital projects from its inception to its operation. RAAMAC Lab’s method is based on a web platform capable to process 3D models on-real time. This platform allows the users to understand the as-built conditions of the projects. As-built implies that this platform is capable to analyze the real on-site conditions and compare them to expected progress. By having such information, users easily understand which areas could be classified as at-risk ones. RAAMAC Lab’s platform has a heavy visual aspect which helps to bring transparency to complex capital projects. Besides, it is capable to bring multiple project stakeholders together to discuss the best solution for the project. Such alignment produces a very transparent decision-making process which solves the typical uncertainty associated with complex capital projects. At MCTech, this approach will be extended to simulate and analyze the impact of large civil projects on the growth of cities.
