John Dobson

— Background

John is Associate Professor of the Practice, Graduate School of Management, Clark University. Prior to joining academia, Dobson started his own business and successfully operated it for twenty-one years, prior to selling it. As a founding entrepreneur, he won numerous awards and recognitions such as the fastest growing company in Canada in 1996, 1997, and 1998. He earned a master’s in development management from the London School of Economics and his doctorate from the University of Manchester. His doctoral research focused on the use of information systems by entrepreneurs in small and micro-enterprises in emerging economies. He teaches entrepreneurship within the Clark University Graduate School of Management and Extension School of Harvard University. His focus is on the real-life application of entrepreneurial theories to solve problems. His teaching is exemplary, and he has won numerous teaching awards. His current research is focused on entrepreneurship within immigrant minority communities.
